Meet Renata & Karen
Alpine Shine was started by Renata Kost and Karen Melville Ives with a simple idea: to offer reliable, high-quality cleaning and property care with a more personal approach.
Over the years, the business has grown naturally. What started with cleaning has become much more than that, and today we work closely with homeowners, Airbnb hosts and property managers across Wānaka and the surrounding areas.
Renata Kost
Originally from Brazil, Renata has more than five years of hands-on experience working in homes and properties in New Zealand, with a background in both professional painting and cleaning.
As Alpine Shine has grown, so has her role. Today, Renata is involved in everything from Airbnb turnovers and property presentation to quality control, client communication and the day-to-day care of holiday homes.
Working inside properties every day has taught her that a home being clean is only part of the job. The little details matter too. How a property is presented, how it feels when a guest walks in, and whether the owner can trust that everything has been taken care of properly.
Karen Melville Ives
Karen is a Wānaka local with experience in property management, hospitality and marketing. She also understands the Airbnb world first-hand from running her own property.
She brings a strong understanding of what owners need behind the scenes, as well as what guests notice during their stay. Organisation, communication and keeping things running smoothly are a big part of what she brings to Alpine Shine.

Renata and Karen bring different strengths to the business, but they share the same standards: good communication, attention to detail, reliable systems and genuine care for the properties they look after.
Whether it is preparing an Airbnb for the next guests, looking after a residential home or helping manage a holiday property, the goal is simple: make things easier for the owner and make sure the property is looked after properly.
